
Bulls End 2006 Season With 1-0 Loss In Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2006) - The University of South Florida women's soccer team concluded the 2006 season Sunday afternoon in Syracuse, N.Y., with a 1-0 loss to the Orange.
The Bulls end the season 6-10-1 overall and 3-8-0 in the BIG EAST Conference.
After a scoreless first half, Syracuse tallied their eighth goal of the season as Chelsea Berry found Jen Taormina on the left side of the net for a six-yard tap-in at the 74-minute mark.
The Bulls registered six shots in the first half and eight in the second, the most since their 14 shots in the 2-1 win over Pittsburgh on Oct. 8.
Junior Paulina McIntosh led the offensive attack for USF, attempting four shots, one of which was on goal. In the 16 games prior to the Syracuse game, McIntosh had only attempted 11 total shots.
Senior Michelle Buskey took two shot attempts, one on goal, while Lindsay Brauer, Siobhan Alexander, Jenna Ball, Erin Dafeldecker, Melanie Sutherland, Laura Engel and AnnaLea Crowe each had one shot in the game.
Senior goalkeeper Casey Garrett made two saves and allowed one goal in the final conference match of the year.
In a very physical game the Bulls posted 17 fouls while the Orange had 20 of their own. Both teams took six corner kicks as four of the Bulls' attempts came in the second half.
The Bulls end the 2006 season seventh in American Division of the BIG EAST, with three conference wins against Pittsburgh, 1-0, (Oct. 8), Providence, 2-0, (Sept. 22) and then-No. 23 Marquette, 1-0, (Sept. 8).
