
USF Looking For First Home Win of the Season; Hosts FAU on Wednesday

TAMPA, Fla. (October 3, 2006) - After dropping each of its last two outings, the University of South Florida men's soccer team (5-4-2, 3-2-2 BIG EAST) will host the FAU Owls (3-5-1, 0-0-1 ASC) on Wednesday, Oct. 4, looking for the team's first home victory of the 2006 season.
After a 10-1-0 home mark in 2005, USF has recorded a 0-2-2 record at the USF Soccer Stadium and welcome the Owls, who are making their first appearance in Tampa since the 2003 season.
USF is led offensively by Hermann Trophy Candidate Rodrigo Hidalgo, who enters Wednesday's contest with a team-high nine points (4g, 1a). Sophomore Jordan Seabrook comes into the FAU contest with three goals and two assists for eight points. Seabrook is looking for his first goal since Sept. 10. Simon Schoendorf and Sammy Castellanos each have registered five points coming into Saturday. Schoendorf has tallied two goals and an assist, but has missed the last three outings due to injury. Castellanos is tied for the team lead in assists (3) along with sophomore Kevon Neaves.
Goalkeeper Dane Brenner enters Wednesday's game with a 5-4-2 record and a 0.87 GAA. The High Point, N.C., native has already equaled his shutout total from last season (4) and is looking to snap a current two-game losing skid.
FAU enters its contest with USF, posting a 3-5-1 record. The Owls are coming off a 1-0 win over Jacksonville on Sept. 24. Leading the way for FAU is Javier Carillo, who has registered two goals for four points this season. Goalkeeper Phillip Lamarre will be making his 10th appearance of the season, tallying a 3-5-1 record with a 1.40 GAA.
Wednesday's game will mark the first meeting between the two squads since the 2003 season. USF holds an 8-3-0 advantage over FAU.
