TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Liz Sherwood scored 19 points, leading No. 12 Vanderbilt past USF 76-68 on Sunday.
Sherwood had six points during Vanderbilt's 15-7 run over the final eight minutes. Vanderbilt (9-1) also got 18 points from Carla Thomas. The Commodores outscored South Florida 50-22 in the paint.
Jessica Dickson had 23 points for South Florida (8-2). The Bulls struggled at the foul line, making 14 of 31.
USF, which trailed by as many as 13 points during the first half, tied it at 6:1l when Shantia Grace hit a three with eight minutes left. Grace finished with 16 points.
Sherwood had three baskets over the next five minutes when Vanderbilt built a 71-65 lead. The Commodores preserved the victory by hitting three of four free throws during the final 90 seconds.
Thomas scored 10 points as Vanderbilt took a 41-34 lead at halftime. Dickson helped keep USF within striking distance by scoring 17 points in the opening 20 minutes.
