Bulls Sweep Blue Demons, 7-0, in BIG EAST Tennis Action

TAMPA, Fla. (March 21, 2006) ? USF (11-3) earned its second-straight sweep over a BIG EAST opponent (St. John's 2/26) Tuesday afternoon after defeating the DePaul Blue Demons, 7-0, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Bulls easily earned the doubles point from the Blue Demons, sweeping all three matches. No. 19 Neyssa Etienne and Gabriela Duch improved their record to 10-2 with their win at the No. 1 position against Beatrix Csordas and Gergana Ganeva, 8-3.

With the doubles point at hand, USF saw a very pumped up Blue Demons squad in singles competition. Down 5-0 in the first set, Etienne rallied back to take the set, 7-6 (7-4) against Csordas. She would not lose another point in the match, taking the second set, 6-0.

No. 57 Courtney Vernon improved her impressive unbeated streak to 13 with her straight-set victory over Gergana Ganeva, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 2 position.

The Bulls will return to the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday, March 25, when they take on the Dartmouth Big Green. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
