
Women's Tennis Drops Match to Pepperdine

FT. MYERS, Fla. (March 4, 2006) ? The No. 47. USF women's tennis team was defeated by the No. 21 Pepperdine Waves, Saturday afternoon, 5-2, on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University in Ft. Myers, Fla.
In doubles play, USF could only pick up one victory, an 8-4 win at the No. 3 doubles match, ultimately dropping the doubles point. The Bulls took the No. 1 and 2 matches to match point but were unable to hold off the tough Waves squad.
In singles competition, No. 38 Courtney Vernon, extended her unbeaten streak to 7-0 after defeating Sylvia Kosakowski, 6-1, 6-0. Also picking up a win was freshman Iciri Rai who defeated Lise Sissler, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (4) at the No. 6 singles.
USF will return to the courts on Tuesday, March 7, when they face Old Dominion at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. First Serve is set for 2 p.m.
