March 07, 2006 | Men's Soccer
TAMPA, Fla. (Tuesday, March 7) ? Forward Jordan Seabrook and midfielder Neven Subotic have been called up to train with the United States Under-20 National Team in Sunrise, Fla., beginning today through March 13. The call up to the U-20s marks the first for both athletes during their soccer careers.
Seabrook, a “College Soccer News” Freshman All-American and NSCAA All-South Region selection, earned second team All-BIG EAST honors in 2005, becoming the first freshman to lead the Bulls in scoring since Hunter West (14g, 3a, 31 pts. in 2002). His 36 points are the most produced by any player at USF over the past five seasons. A three-time BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, Seabrook led all freshman players in scoring in the conference. Seabrook registered three goals and three assists during USF's postseason play in 2005, helping lead the Bulls to the BIG EAST Tournament Finals and the team's first berth in the NCAA Tournament in four seasons. USF finished its first season in BIG EAST action with a league-best 9-2 record while earning the Red Division title in part to Seabrook's contributions. He was named to the “College Soccer News” National Team of the Week (Oct. 3) for a five-point performance versus Villanova. Seabrook notched four multiple-goal games this past season, including his first-ever hat trick in USF's 6-3 win over Jacksonville (Sept. 4).
Subotic, who is currently enrolled at USF and will join the Bulls' squad for the 2006 season, has been a member of the U.S. U-17 National Team since 2004. In 2005, he started 11 of the 20 matches he played in with the top U-17 team, scoring three goals and adding one assist. He was a member of the 2005 U-17 World Cup Team which advanced to the quarterfinals. In his first season with the team, Subotic scored three goals and notched two assists while playing in just 10 games. A member of the Manatee Magic, Subotic attended Edison Academy Center. He was named an NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American in 2005. The 6-foot-4 midfielder has notched seven caps and one international goal during his national team career.
