Neyssa Etienne and Gabriela Duch Win Consolation Doubles Bracket at ITA All-American Championships

No. 45 USF WoMen's Tennis Falls to No. 19 VCU, 4-3

Tampa, Fla. (April 14, 2006) ? The University of South Florida women's tennis teams up-set bid against the No. 19 ranked VCU Rams, fell short Friday afternoon as the Bulls fell to the undefeated Rams, 4-3.

The Bulls (13-4) came out of the gate strong taking 2-of-3 doubles matches from the tough Rams (23-0) squad. No. 19 Gabriela Duch and Neyssa Etienne upset the No. 14 duo of Olga Borisova and Marianna Yuferova, 8-2, at the No. 1 position. USF's No. 3 doubles team of Courtney Vernon and Luisa Obando clinched the point in a tiebreak against Gabrielle De Beaucoudrey and Viktoria Konstantinova, 9-8 (7-5).

After winning the doubles point, the Bulls couldn't get past the talented Rams team, dropping 4-of-6 matches.

No. 90 Vernon remained perfect on the season (16-0) defeating No. 46 Marianna Yuferova in a ten point tiebreaker, 6-2, 6-7 (7-3), 10-3, at the No. 2 spot.

Earning USF's other win was No. 89 Liz Cruz who defeated No. 102 Viktoria Konstantinova at the No. 3 position, 6-2, 6-3.

USF will return to the USF Varsity Tennis courts to conclude the regular season against Florida International University on Sunday. The Bulls will honor seniors Neyssa Etienne, Luisa Obando and Fabiana Taverna. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
