USF Continues BIG EAST Play, Hosting Pittsburgh on Sunday

TAMPA, Fla. (September 16, 2006) - The University of South Florida men's soccer team (4-2-1, 2-0-1 BIG EAST) will continue BIG EAST play with a match versus the Pittsburgh Panthers (2-4-1, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) at the USF Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 17.
USF is coming off a 2-2 draw with the No.-8 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers on Friday, Sept. 15. The tie was USF's first-ever conference draw. A late goal by junior Simon Schoendorf tied the contest in the 87th minute, keeping the Bulls unbeaten all-time at home in BIG EAST competition (6-0-1). However, USF is still looking for its first home victory of the season (0-1-1). Sophomore Jordan Seabrook leads all USF players offensively, scoring three goals and notching one assist on the season. Rodrigo Hidalgo has scored a goal in each of the Bulls' last two contests, while Schoendorf has tallied a goal in two of the last three outings. Kevon Neaves, who set up Scohendorf's game-tying goal, has tallied an assist in each of the last two games and leads squad with three.
Goalkeeper Dane Brenner, the reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, tied his season-high with six saves versus the Mountaineers. Brenner has recorded three shutouts this season boasting a 4-2-1 record through the first seven games.
Pittsburgh comes into Sunday's game having won its last two conference outings, including a 1-0 win over DePaul on Friday.
Sunday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between USF and Pittsburgh at the USF Soccer Stadium and only the second all-time between the two schools.
