
USF Looks To Rebound, Hosting Rutgers on Saturday

TAMPA, Fla. (September 29, 2006) - The University of South Florida men's soccer team (5-3-2, 3-1-2 BIG EAST) looks to rebound after suffering the squad's first conference loss of the season (2-1 at DePaul), hosting the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-6-0, 2-4-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Looking for their first home victory of the 2006 season, the Bulls welcome the Scarlet Knights to the USF Soccer Stadium for the first time as a BIG EAST opponent (second time overall). Rodrigo Hidalgo leads all USF players in scoring (4 goals) and points (9) this season, registering a goal in four of the team's last five games. Jordan Seabrook, who notched his second assist of the season during Wednesday's loss, is looking for his first goal at home of the 2006 season. Senior Sammy Castellanos and Kevon Neaves share the team-high in assists this season each recording three.
Goalkeeper Dane Brenner will look to rebound from his third loss of the season. Following each of his previous two losses in 2006, the High Point, N.C., native has tallied a pair of 2-0 shutout victories.
Rutgers comes into Saturday's contest with a 0-5-0 record on the road this season. The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 2-1 loss at Villanova, owning a 2-4-0 record in conference action.
Chris Moore leads the Scarlet Knights in scoring with seven points (2g, 3a). Goalkeeper Matt Van Oekel comes into this weekend's contest with a 3-6-0 record and a 1.18 GAA.
Rutgers holds a 2-1-1 edge in the series history between the two teams.
