
Bulls Even Record With 7-0 Shutout Against BIG EAST Foe Marquette

TAMPA, Fla. (March 10, 2007) ? Posting its second shutout in as many matches, the University of South Florida men's tennis team blanked BIG EAST rival Marquette, 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts to even the season record at 6-6.
The Bulls, winners of three matches in four days, seized three closely contested doubles matches to begin the afternoon.
Marc Jaeger and Ales Svigelj won their third match in a row, escaping Stephen Shao and Niko Boulieris 9-7 at the No. 3 position.
The tandems of Thomas Estrada/Mahmoud Hamed and Henning Hipp/Daniel Daudt both won by identical scores of 8-5 at the top spots to give USF its fifth doubles sweep over the last six matches.
The Bulls also swept each singles match in straight sets over Marquette (6-5).
Estrada earned his team-best 10th singles win of the year with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Bouliers at No. 5 and Hamed added his ninth win after ousting Binkley 6-3, 6-1 on court three.
Jaeger earned his third win in a row, 6-4, 6-2 over Shao in the second spot and Svigelj captured the top flight 6-2, 6-0, against MU's Trent Hagan.
Hipp upped his record at the third spot to 4-0 on the year with a 7-6(5), 6-0 win over Mark Rutherford and Daudt set down Greg Sirotek 6-3, 6-1for his third consecutive victory.
The men's team will conclude the weekend home stand against Harvard, Sun. at 11 a.m. Admission to the USF Varsity Tennis Courts is free.
