Bulls Fall To Cavs 1-0 In Final Exhibition

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ? The University of South Florida men's soccer team concluded its preseason schedule Sunday afternoon, falling to the No. 5 Virginia Cavaliers 1-0 in a tightly fought contest.
The match, which was postponed Saturday night due to strong weather in the area, saw a 20-yard blast by UVA midfielder Jeremy Barlow account for the only score of the afternoon. The shot, in the 21st minute of the match, made it to the outside far post where USF keeper Diego Restrepo could not knock it away.
In the second half, the Cavaliers went up a man in the 50th minute as midfielder Kevon Neaves received a red card for a harsh challenge. Although shorthanded, the Bulls had an opportunity to tie the game in the 73rd minute from the penalty spot. However, Virginia goalkeeper Dan Louisignau stopped Simon Schoendorf's penalty kick attempt to preserve the shutout.
The match was overall a very close one, as the Bulls recorded seven total shots to the Cavaliers eight, with three being on goal to UVA's four.
Neaves tallied three shots before being sent off, with teammates Jordan Seabrook, Marshall Schultz, Luke Magill and Schoendorf each adding one.
UVA keepers Michael Giallombardo and Louisignau split halves to stop the three USF shots on goal. Restrepo also notched three saves in the full 90 minutes.
