Women's Soccer Drops 3-0 Tilt to No. 1 Notre Dame

TAMPA - The University of South Florida women's soccer team faced a tall order heading into South Bend, Ind. to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Bulls battled for 90 minutes but came up on the short end of the decision, dropping a 3-0 decision to the No. 1 team in the country.
Despite giving up three goals, junior goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi was firm in the goal for the Bulls registering 10 saves, while playing the full 90.
The Bulls fought hard from the opening horn but struggled to get their attack on track.
Notre Dame freshman Melissa Henderson started the scoring in the 19th minute, tallying her ninth goal of the season to give the Irish an early 1-0 lead. Sophomore Rose Augustin and senior Kerri Hanks would round out the scoring for the Irish, scoring goals in the 33rd and 51st minutes, respectively.
The game marks the first loss in regulation for the Bulls. The Bulls' previous two loses on the season have come in overtime.
With the loss, the Bulls fall to 5-3-3 on the season and 1-2-1 in BIG EAST action. The Irish improved to 11-0-0 and 4-0-0 in conference tilts.
The Bulls will look to get back on track this Sunday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Chicago, Ill. to take on DePaul at 1 p.m. at DePaul's Wish Field.
