BOX SCORE
TAMPA, Fla. ? Playing in rainy conditions, the No. 11 USF men's soccer team fell 1-0 against DePaul on Tuesday at Wish Stadium in Chicago.
Despite the loss the Bulls, 6-2-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in league play, still remain in first place in the BIG EAST Red Division.
“I thought we were unlucky today,” said USF head coach George Kiefer. “We hit the post and also we had a few chances where the ball got by the goalkeeper, but their field players were there to stop the ball. The team played well with the rain falling in a tough environment.”
Senior defender Yohance Marshall headed a shot in the box in the 17th minute that was just wide of the goal. Senior midfielder Jordan Seabrook had a shot on goal in the 27th minute that was saved by the DePaul defense to keep the game scoreless.
USF outshot DePaul 6-4 in the game. The Blue Demons put the only goal on the board in the 68th minute.
In an effort to put the game into overtime, Seabrook clanked one off the post in the 88th minute, and junior Jorge Mora gained possession of the ball after the rebound but his attempt was just high.
On Friday, Oct. 10, the Bulls will head back home to face the Louisville Cardinals at 8 p.m. The game has been chosen as the Fox Soccer Channel game of the week and will be nationally televised. The Cardinals are currently 8-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in conference action. The Cardinals face Cincinnati late Tuesday night. This is the 19th meeting all-time between the teams. The Bulls lead the all-time series 12-4-2. The last meeting took place Oct. 6, 2007 where the Bulls fell 1-0 on the road.
