Women's Tennis Fall, 5-2, to Colorado

TAMPA- The No.43 University of women's tennis team could not manage a spilt of their first two dual matches of the season on their trip to Albuquerque, N.M. as the Bulls fell to the No. 57 University of Colorado, 5-2, at the University of New Mexico's Randy Briggs Indoor Tennis Bubble.
Despite the Bulls being able to win in the No. 1 doubles position, as senior Iciri Rai and Jessica Zok defeated Colorado's pairing of Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito, 8-5. However, the Bulls would drop the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches as Jessica Sweeting and Natalia Guevara fell to CU's No.2 teaming of Anuszkiewicz/Jendrian, 8-4, and then Allyn Mueller and Lauren Shumate fell, 8-1, to Probert and Hedelund.
The Bulls began singles play by taking two of the first three matches but that would be it as the Bulls could only muster two singles victories as Allyn Mueller and Lauren Shumate registered victories from the No. 5 and No. 6 positions as Muller defeated Michala Hedelund Jensen 6-2, 6-3 and Shumate defeated Ania Anuszkiewicz 7-5, 6-2.
In the No. 1 position No. 102 Jessica Zok fell to Esposito, 6-3, 6-2 and Jessica Sweeting dropped straight sets to Camila Belassi,6-4,6-3.
To round out the day Abbie Probert of CU defeated Natalia Guevara, 6-4, 7-5 and in the No. 3 position Rai dropped both sets,7-5 from her No. 3 slot.
With the loss Bulls fall to 0-2 this but will be back in action Wednesday, February when they travel North up I-75 to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. The Bulls will make their home debut on Friday, February 13, when they host Furman at 2 p.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
