TAMPA - University of South Florida women's basketball standout Jessica Lawson has been named to the weekly BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Honor Roll for the week ending Dec. 6.

Lawson, a 6-3 senior center from Orlando, averaged 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week in helping the Bulls to a 2-0 record with wins over UC Irvine (78-66) on Nov. 30, and Washington (61-50) on Dec. 4. In addition, Lawson shot 68.4 percent (13-19) from the floor on the week, and 72.7 percent (8-11) from the charity stripe.

Lawson kicked off the week scoring 19 points against on Nov. 30 UC Irvine hitting 70 percent (7-10) of her shots from the field and 5-6 (83.3 percent) from the free throw line. She also grabbed eight rebounds helping USF to its third straight win on its West Coast road trip.  

She then followed that up with a 15 point and seven rebound effort against Washington at home on Dec. 4 where she was 6-9 (6.7 percent) from the field and 3-5 from the line in the win.

The Bulls, in a week-long break for final exams, will get back to work on Dec. 13 at 4:30 p.m. against in-state foe Jacksonville.
