Jason Pierre-Paul headlined six USF players that earned 2009 All-BIG EAST Conference honors.
Wilson and Pierre-Paul are both first team members, while center
Sampson Genus, defensive end
George Selvie, safety
Nate Allen and cornerback
Jerome Murphy were all named to the second team.
Wilson was also a first team honoree by
Phil Steele and
ESPN.com, while Pierre-Paul also landed on the ESPN.com team.
It marks the fourth consecutive season that USF has placed a linebacker on the All-BIG EAST first team. Wilson follows
Tyrone McKenzie (2008), Ben Moffitt (2007) and Stephen Nicholas.
USF has placed a defensive end on the first team for each of the last three seasons and this year Pierre-Paul beat out his teammate, Selvie, for the top honors. Selvie was a first team honoree in 2008 and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year in 2007.
Pierre-Paul leads the Bulls with 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, while his counterpart Selvie has 9.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks. Selvie and Syracuse defensive lineman Arthur Jones are the only players to earn conference honors each of the last three years.
Murphy, Allen and Genus are all first time honorees.
USF has earned 10 First Team and 18 Second Team All-BIG EAST honors since joining the league in 2005.
The league's coaches vote for the most deserving honorees, but are not allowed to vote for their own players.
