USF at UConn
Post Game Quotes

XL Center- Hartford, Conn.
USF Head Coach Stan Heath
I thought we did some things really well today. I thought we were able to kind of manage the clock and control the tempo and pick and choose some times to attack them. Defensively, I would take those minutes any day of the week against a terrific offensive team like UConn.
I told our team before the game, if we wanted to have a chance to really pull off a miracle and an upset against a great team like this, we'd have to knock some threes down. And that was the area we just weren't able to get done.
On Thabeet...
To see him up close, he's so impressive. You can just see how much he's improved from last year to this year, especially on the offensive end. He's always been unbelievable on the defensive end, but offensively he's much more comfortable making post moves, hit a 15, 12-foot shot. He always so tough on the offensive glass.
It was one of those game where we were hoping for a break here and there, maybe catch them sleeping. We knew we were probably going to face an angry giant, but I thought we did some really good things out there. But against a great team like this it wasn't enough.
UConn Head Coach Jim Calhoun
It was a hard bounce-back game, given the pace of the game. A lot of that had to do with their defense. They're fourth or fifth in field goal percentage defense.
The tempo of the game was the single most important thing. And we're going to see that at times....We don't know if we're going to see a slow-down game, per se, but...
I think it was a difficult game to bounce back because you want to get back into the fray and get going. And all of a sudden they're taking 25 seconds off the shot clock. That caused us not to play anywhere near the type of defense we need to play early. Or rebound, particularly.
On Thabeet and Adrien
In the second half we picked it up, played better. Hasheem got more involved in the game. Jeff rebounded the heck out of the ball but struggled offensively ? really unlike him, missing point-blank shots.
Coaches that complain about things that happen to him in the midst of games. Unfortunately, we become a little bit like fans, where we start thinking that there isn't another team. There was another team that was wearing another color, and they actually had something to do with that. They defended us pretty well, they changed up a lot of times, match-up, two-three, man...and I thought did a pretty good job.
On Price
A.J. had an OK game, but he had the seven points that made the difference and all of a sudden just took the game away.
I think defensively we were pretty good. Offensively we really struggled and we're going to have to keep putting pieces together.
