Bulls Blow by Syracuse, 6-1

TAMPA -- The University of South Florida women's tennis team made it two in a row as it defeated Syracuse , 6-1, Sunday morning at the USF Varsity Tennis courts. The Bulls are now at the halfway point of their eight-match homestand.
The Bulls started the morning with doubles competition and quickly took a 1-0 lead thanks to a pair victories from their No. 2 and 3 doubles teams. Natalia Guevara and Iciri Rai teamed up to beat Allesondra Parra and Simone Kalhorn, 8-2. Then No. 3 doubles duo Jessica Zok and Allyn Mueller made quick work of Chelsea Jones and Ashley Spicer, winning 8-3.
Heading to singles with a 1-0 lead, the Bulls kept the momentum rolling by winning five of the six singles matches. Starting off for the Bulls was Irene Rehberger, who is now 5-1 on the season. Rehberger won her fifth straight as she defeated Emily Harman, 6-1, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. Rai, in the No.2 slot, would follow suit as she took care of Christina Tan, 6-2, 6-4.
The Bulls would add two more victories as Zok took care of Simone Kalhorn, 6-0, 6-3. The last victory was a three-set grinder as Guevara defeated Allesondra Parra, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3 to cap off the morning.
With the win the Bulls are now 4-8 on the season. USF has won three of its last four and four of its last seven. Sunday marked the first time that USF has won back-to-back matches .
The Bulls will continue their homestand when they host Wisconsin on Wednesday, March 13 at 11 a.m.
