
USF Women Finish Fifth At BIG EAST Golf Championships

DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of South Florida women's golf team recorded its best round of the BIG EAST Conference Championships with a 299 in the final round en route to a fifth place finish on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Jovita Country Club. As a result of their solid final round, all five of the Bulls' performers finished in the top 21.
Jessica Schnebly shot a team-best 72 in the final round to lead USF while finishing in 14th place with a three-round total of 228. Schnebly's par round was her best of the championships after shooting 79 and 77 in the first and second rounds, respectively. Schnebly finished a stroke ahead of teammate Gennifer Mendez who finished with a final round score of 75 (79-75-75-229).
Emily Van Etten recovered from an 82 on Monday to round out USF's top 20 finishers, tying for 17th with a final round score of 76 (74-82-76-232). Rachel Edwards (79-79-76-234) and Ana Lopez (76-80-78 - 234) each closed out the BIG EAST Championships tied for 21st.
Like its male counterparts, Louisville took the team title with a three-round total of 876 (279-302-295), a comfortable 11 strokes ahead of second place Notre Dame (295-298-294-887). Cincinnati (301-313-303-917) and Georgetown (308-308-301-917) finished third and fourth, respectively ahead of USF.
St. John's took sixth place (306-319-312-937) and Rutgers (322-340-334-996) rounded out the leaderboard in seventh.
Notre Dame's Lisa Maunu won BIG EAST medalist honors shooting a final round two-under par 70. She finished the event as the only player in the field to shoot under par with a one-under 215 (74-71-70). Louisville's Sara-Maude Juneau finished second, after coming into today's round tied for first with Maunu, posting a third-round score of 73 and finishing the championship one-over par with a 218 (73-72-73).
Carly Hunt of Georgetown (74-73-72-219) and Cindy LaCrosse of Louisville (70-76-73-219) each tied for third.
