TAMPA- The University of South Florida women's golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the fall 2009 season at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup with a top-10 performance.
The Bulls shot a 318 as a team in Monday's final round to capture 10th place in the tournament finishing seven strokes ahead of BIG EAST foe Cincinnati.
USF got another impressive performance from freshman Shena Yang, who led the Bulls in scoring in both of their first two tournaments. Yang finished the Cardinal Cup tied for 18th individually after a final round 76 on Tuesday.
Yang opened up the tournament with consecutive rounds of 75, and finished at 10-over in just the second collegiate tournament of her young career.
Ana Lopez, who led the tournament through the first eleven holes, finished in 30th place individually and in second for the Bulls squad, finishing 14-over for the tournament.
Lopez fired a 1-over 73 in the first round and finished up the tournament with sub-80 rounds.
The host school, Louisville, had an impressive showing in their fall tournament taking home both the team and individual honors. The Cardinals shot 866 for the tournament, and star Sara-Maude Juneau took home the individual title after shooting 3-under for the tournament.
Juneau was the only player from the field with a sub-par score for the tournament.
The Bulls finished just one stroke behind Morehead State for ninth place as a team. The Bulls will continue their fall schedule when they host the Waterlefe Invitational Oct. 5-6 in Bradenton, Fla.
