2010 NCAA Tournament - Tallahassee, Fla.
Second Round
Nov. 14, 2010
Florida State 2, USF 1
USF Coach Denise-Schilte Brown
Opening Statement:
"We had our opportunities and unfortunately they didn't go in today. I'm proud of this team. It's a young team. It's going to be very hard to replace
Angelique Waller, in fact we won't at left back. Other than that, it's a young team and we're going to grow from here so I think you can expect some exciting things from USF in the future.
"Any young program that has never taken its steps in the NCAA is always going to have to come out in the beginning of the game and get their feet. This is a young team and they were excited to be there, so I think the first half was a young team trying to fight and find their way against a seasoned team; their here every year. I felt like at the end of the first half, scoring that goal was good for us; timely, of course, but the second half is the team we've been all season."
"I felt there were stretches in the second half where we really got at them and had their chances. I respect Mark Krikorian. He's done amazing things with this program and I know they're going to have good run in the NCAA Tournament, but I felt like it could have been us today."
Angelique Waller, USF senior defender:
On the foul called against her for taking down FSU's Casey Short, which led to the go-ahead penalty kick at 59:47 of the game:
"I feel like it could have been cleared earlier, but I guess I went in too hard for a tackle and (the referee) called it."
Taylor Patterson, USF sophomore midfielder:
On her second half shot off the post and USF's early surge after tying the game at the conclusion of the first half:
"In the locker room we wanted to be a little more aggressive and want the ball more and go at them. Unfortunately it did hit the post, but I went at them. It was all I could do - unlucky."
