TAMPA - If the college basketball season ended today, one very influential group believes the University of South Florida men's team would be in the NCAA Tournament as the No. 11 seed in the South Regional and the No. 45 seed overall.

In the mock setup, staged by the NCAA selection committee, USF would face Bruce Pearl and the Tennessee Volunteers in Jacksonville, and with a win, the Bulls would meet the winner of Morgan State and Michigan State, where Coach Stan Heath was an assistant coach from 1996-2001.

Overall, USF is one seed better than No. 46 Florida, and tops 2009-10 opponent No. 50 Kent State.

The Bulls join six other BIG EAST teams in the mock selection in No. 2 Syracuse, No. 4 Villanova, No. 6 Georgetown, No. 8 West Virginia, No. 18 Pittsburgh and No. 31 Marquette.

This season, USF has defeated Georgetown (72-64) and Pittsburgh (70-61), and has yet to play Marquette (Feb. 13) and Villanova (Feb. 24).
