Bulls Drop To 12th On Final Day Of Qdoba Invite
February 17, 2010 | Women's Golf
TAMPA- The University of South Florida women's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the spring season by taking 12th place at the Qdoba Invitational on Tuesday.
“You've got to dig deep in windy conditions like these and instead we let it frustrate us and its optimal performance is impossible when you are frustrated,” head Coach Marci Kornegay said.
The Bulls battled harsh windy conditions on Tuesday, and dropped from seventh place into 12th on the tournament's final day.
The Bulls started hot, as they sat in sixth place after day one, and in seventh after Monday's second round.
USF got a top-20 performance out of Shena Yang, despite battling a stomach virus for most of the tournament. Yang shot a 9-over 81 in the final round, after starting the tournament with rounds of 74 and 73 respectively.
The top-25 finish was the sixth of Yang's short collegiate career.
USF shot a 322 on Tuesdays final round, and shot scores of 305 and 302 during the first two rounds of the tournament.
After a great opening two rounds, Ana Lopez shot a final round 82 to close out the Qdoba Invitational.
Emily Van Etten fired her lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday in the windy conditions and finished her day with a 6-over 78.
The Bulls will be off until March 1, when they will travel to Orlando, Fla. To take part in the UCF Challenge.
