Head Coach Stan Heath Quotes
On the win against Georgetown...
"I'll be brutally honest. I'm really amazed at our team. This is the best win in our school history of basketball against an outstanding team like Georgetown. We played really well, we played really hard and we became a more aggressive team in the second half and I thought down the stretch we fought hard to win."
On Game Changing Plays...
"I thought two baskets were big when Jones banked the three; he'll say it wasn't lucky but I think it wasn't. I thought a basket when we were really stagnant and struggling was when Jones went in and missed it and Mercer followed it up because we were having trouble scoring at that time and that was a big play at that time that forced them into some fouling situations."
On the School's Most Historic Victory...
"We've never beat anyone with this magnitude on the road. Pittsburgh was good but obviously Georgetown is ranked higher and at the same time we beat Marquette last year... at our place. We never won a game like this on the road and our confidence has been growing and we won some games on the road but this one is a huge jump on the radar screen. There will be a lot of happy people in Tampa. There will be a lot of people that are really shocked and all we are trying to do is keep going through the journey and doing the best job we can and grow as players and people."
On Dominque Jones' Performance...
"He got off to a really slow start. I don't think he scored until 11 minute mark. I think finally he got to the free throw line and he started attacking a little bit more and made a couple shots and once he got going, he was really hard to stop. Obviously we feed off of him, he's a biggest part of what we do and as much as he scores, he made some outstanding defensive plays, stripping the ball to get some steals to turn into offensive plays."
