Bulls Open Up Regular Season with UNF

TAMPA - Coming off a strong preseason, the University of South Florida women's soccer team will open the 2010 regular season when they host North Florida on Friday, August 20 at the USF Soccer Stadium.

USF will hope to keep the momentum rolling after picking up a pair of exhibition wins over in-state rival Miami, 2-0, in Coral Gables and the U-17 Mexican National team, 3-1, at the Bulls home field. In the two matches, USF outscored the opposition, 5-1

Spear heading the Bulls offensive attack this preseason was junior Chelsea Klotz, who scored four goals in two games. The Bulls leading scorer in each of the past two seasons, Klotz looks primed to continue her assault on opposing goalkeepers in 2010.

The meeting with the Ospreys marks the second time in three years that the two programs have met in the regular season openers. To open the 2008 season, the Bulls and Ospreys played to a 1-1 draw at UT's Pepin Stadium.

UNF returns five starters and 15 letterwinners from a 2009 team which went 5-11-3 in 2009. Head coach Linda Hamilton is 19-33-6 in three years at the helm of the Osprey program.

Following the Bulls' regular season opener, USF will be off until August 27 when they head to Murray, Ky. to take part in the 2010 Racer Classic. The Bulls will take on host Murray State on Friday at 2 p.m. and then will close out the Classic  when they take on Southeast Missouri State on Sunday at noon.
