Wynne Leads Bulls in Loss to Auburn
December 15, 2011 | Women's Basketball
By Tom Zebold Jasmine Wynne scored a team-high 17 points, but the Bulls' offense failed to get going in a 62-45 loss at Auburn on Wednesday night. Caitlin Rowe was the only other USF women's basketball player in double figures with 10 points as the Bulls shot 29 percent from the field before falling to 6-5. The USF defense definitely stepped by forcing 29 turnovers and holding the Tigers scoreless from the field for the final 14 minutes, 11 seconds of the game. “You score 45 points you aren't going to beat many people,” head coach Jose Fernandez said. “Right now we're struggling with our perimeter scoring. We need those guys to put the ball in the basket.” USF made only one of 10 3-point attempts and turned the ball over 20 times in its attempt to beat Auburn for a second straight time in two seasons. USF will look to get back on track at home when it faces Maryland Eastern Shore 2 p.m. Saturday at the USF Recreation Center.
