February 03, 2011 | Women's Soccer
"We are very excited to announce this year's signing class," said Schilte-Brown. "This is a very talented group of individuals that we believe can help us reach the goals we have set as a program. The excitement level around USF women's soccer is through the roof and I have no doubt that this class will add to that."
Schilte-Brown attributes such a solid recruiting class to the on-field success of 2010 season.
"The 2010 season was an exceptional year for our program," said Schilte-Brown. "Reaching the Big East Conference Finals, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and gaining National recognition in the final polls has helped validate the hard work, trust, effort and dedication that our players and staff have put in over the past four years to reach this point.
The class includes: Daniela Andrade, Guatemala City, Guatemala, The Pendleton School; Kayla Bala, Lakeland, Fla., University of Florida; Alexa Hosey Port Orange, Fla., Spruce Creek HS; Summer Ikeda, Cameron Park, Calf., American River College; Sarah Miller, Bradenton, Fla., Lakewood Ranch HS; Demi Stokes, South Shields, England, Harton Technology College; and Cara Patterson, Edmonton, Alberta, Archbishop O'Leary HS.
The class includes players with National Team experience, one junior college All-American, one transfer, a record setting scorer from Florida and three talented international players.
Schilte-Brown expects this group to contribute to an already solid base of returning talent and help take USF women's soccer to the next level.
"More importantly, it has given this program something to build upon and the hunger to reach greater heights," said Schilte-Brown. "We feel that with the return of an already talented and experienced group, this 2011 class will help propel us along the continued road of National prominence."
