TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Leondra Doomes-Stephens scored a game- and career-high 25 points and 13 rebounds, while Andrea Smith added 24 points as the University of South Florida pulled off a 60-55 upset of No. 17 Georgetown on Monday night.

Doomes-Stephens, one of two players celebrating Senior Night, hit five three pointers in seven attempts and recorded her first career double-double.

Doomes-Stephens and Smith combined for 49 of the Bulls 60 points in their first win against a ranked opponent since beating Depaul on Feb. 5, 2008.

"Those (senior performances) are what storybooks are made of," USF coach Jose Fernandez said. "With that type of game, the story writes itself, so obviously, we gave (Doomes-Stephens) the game ball tonight."

Hoyas leading scorer Sugar Rodgers, who averages 18.5 points per game, struggled to score just 10 points, shooting just 4-of-11 from the field and 2-of-7 from three-point range.

Rubylee Wright had a team-high 12 points, while Tia McGee added nine.

Georgetown (21-9, 9-7 BIG EAST) shot poorly throughout the game, just 35 percent from the field.

This second meeting of USF and Georgetown differed vastly from Feb. 8, when the Hoyas hosted the Bulls and dominated in a 67-38 win.

USF (12-18, 3-13 BIG EAST) shot just 23 percent in that game, with no Bulls player scoring in double digits.

"That was the only game this year where we were out of place and not on our game," Fernandez said. "We answered the bell tonight."

USF has just three  BIG EAST wins, but was playing without its leading rebounder, senior Porche Grant, who was suspended two games by coach Jose Fernandez for making an obscene gesture to opposing fans in the final minute during the loss to Rutgers on Feb. 23.

However, Doomes-Stephens has been hot the past two games, averaging 22 points, including 19 against Villanova on Feb. 26.

"I felt that every time I shot the ball I always thought it was going to go in (tonight)," Doomes-Stephens said. "But we finally played together with pride and we finally played 40 minutes as a team."

The Bulls will now head to the BIG EAST Conference Tournament where they will play their first round game on Friday, March 4 against an opponent and at a time to be determined.
