TAMPA - The USF Bulls got their first taste of fall camp on Thursday at the Frank Morsani Practice Facility. Energy was high as the team had its first fall workout in the state-of-the-art practice facility. The team was fortunate enough to go through spring drills in the facility, but this was the first practice of the 2011 season and the players, who have worked so hard during the summer, were excited to finally put on the helmets.

“It's great getting out here and working with the coaches,” junior quarterback B.J. Daniels said. “We put these fields to good use during the summer, working out and throwing, but you can feel the buzz with the first practice. I think everyone was excited to get going.”

The Bulls had their first of three workouts here in Tampa before they make the trip to Vero Beach on Saturday. They'll split squads tomorrow with the veterans going in the morning and the newcomers practicing in the afternoon. Then, they'll have another practice on Saturday before hopping on the buses to Vero. But, getting started was all anyone wanted to talk about.

“There was a great vibe today,” said junior LB Sam Barrington. “Everybody was out there working. We had a lot of fun. We want to take all the hard work we put in this summer and continue to progress throughout the fall.”

For junior WR/KR Lindsey Lamar, this was his first time practicing in the new facility after missing spring drills.

“It felt great being around my teammates again,” Lamar said. “I felt like I was in heaven. We've been grinding all summer getting ready for camp, but it's here now and we feel good.”

The Univeristy of South Florida is one of just 15 schools nationally that has won at least eight games in each of the last five seasons. Out of that group, only 10 play in BCS leagues. The other BCS teams that have accomplished the feat are Florida, LSU, Missouri, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Texas Tech, USC, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
