In collegiate athletics, NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) gives businesses and brands the opportunity to partner with student-athletes by utilizing their personal brand and platform. Athletes can earn compensation through endorsements, social media promotions, appearances, autographs, commission-based partnerships, and more.
The NCAA’s framework makes it possible for businesses to engage with student-athletes in meaningful ways, creating opportunities for sponsorship activations such as:
- Using an athlete’s NIL to market products and services
- Acting as a brand ambassador
- Appearing in brand social media content or paid media campaigns
- Making in-store appearances or autograph signings
- Wearing branded apparel
- Participating in commission-based models, such as using a discount code to promote a brand
At South Florida, we are committed to empowering student-athletes by fostering entrepreneurial and innovative thinking. Our program provides athletes with the resources and knowledge they need to build, leverage, and promote their personal brand. This approach not only helps student-athletes maximize their value during their time at South Florida but also equips them with valuable skills that will serve them well beyond their athletic careers, preparing them for success in life after sports.
