Post Robs the Win, Bulls Tie Murray State 0-0
September 04, 2011 | Women's Soccer
By TOM ZEBOLD USF Senior Writer TAMPA – Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said she always felt like a goal was going to come. Unfortunately for the Bulls, it never did Sunday afternoon. The USF women's soccer team outshot Murray State, 24-9, but couldn't get one in the net in a 0-0 tie through two overtime periods. “I felt like we had a consistent push from the back to stay compact and that's why we created opportunity after opportunity,” Schilte-Brown said. The Bulls' final shot of the day might have been the most frustrating. Gina Pacheco was pulled down by a Murray State defender in the box, which set up a penalty kick opportunity. Noelle Pineiro stepped in and fired a shot that hit the bottom of the left post while the keeper leaped in the other direction. “That would have been a great way to finish the game,” Schilte-Brown said. USF will try to find a way to break through on offense 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Akron. The Bulls have two additional games left on their homestand with tests against Jacksonville on Sunday, Sept. 4 and West Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 15. Purchase your tickets online at GoUSFBulls.com.
