Instead of worrying about keeping an undefeated streak alive through the playoffs, the University of South Florida women's soccer team can now simply focus on starting a new one. The Bulls (10-5-2 overall, 6-2-2 BIG EAST) snapped a seven-game undefeated streak Saturday night, falling to a strong Marquette squad 4-0 in Milwaukee, Wis. to finish out the regular season. The loss was the Bulls' second since Sept. 2, and the team's only loss of more than two goals this season, as USF was shut out for just the third time this year. Marquette broke a scoreless tie just before the half, as Golden Eagle junior Cara Jacobson caught a cross from the right side and scooted it past starting keeper Christiane Endler to take a 1-0 advantage at 39:47. Endler, the reigning BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, made six saves in 75 minutes of work, but was replaced in net with the Bulls trailing 3-0. Five minutes later, Marquette sent home its fourth goal of the night, completing the offensive onslaught. USF midfielder Olivia Chance took the Bulls' only shot of the night, as the Golden Eagles stymied the USF attack, and did not allow a single shot on goal. Marquette finished with 21 shots, putting 10 on goal. USF earned a first-round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament with its conference record, and will host a quarterfinal round Oct. 28, against a team to be determined. The Bulls have not lost at home since Aug. 17.
