USF Senior Writer TAMPA – Head coach Denise Schilte-Brown learned a lot about her Bulls on Sunday afternoon. After coming up empty on a ton of chances in the first half, freshman Olivia Chance gave the USF women's soccer team the only goal it needed in the 87th minute of a 1-0 victory at Providence. The Bulls (8-4-2, 4-1-2) started the weekend off with a 1-0 victory at UConn after Sarah Miller buried the game-winner in the 84th minute. “We were in control of (Sunday's) game in the first half and created a lot of opportunities. It was somewhat tenuous situation not getting the goal because we worked so hard for it,” Schilte-Brown said. “It was important that they came into the second half with determination.” USF outshot Providence, 8-2, in the first half and got ahead of the Friars when Chance outmaneuvered a defender on the right side and scored her fourth goal of the season from 20 yards out. “You knew she was going to be an impact player and she's just showing what we watched in the spring,” Schilte-Brown said. Providence (8-7-1, 3-5-0) didn't have many good looks at the net all day and managed just four shots. Keeper Christiane Endler made the USF defense's stellar effort hold up by making three saves in her seventh shutout of the season. “They've been good and they're consistent. Sometimes it's tough to be consistent in the back, especially when your team isn't scoring four or five goals a game,” Schilte-Brown said. “We're getting one or two a game and that's great, but it takes the right mentality for defenders.” USF wraps up its regular season homestand with Syracuse on Oct. 12 and St. John's on Oct. 14 at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
