Head coach Don Barr is still in the evaluation process with his USF men's tennis team that failed to get back on track Saturday in a 7-0 loss to Florida State in Tallahassee.
"We're still doing a lot of adjustments to see who can handle the top spots and they're still proving they can play in the lineup," Barr said. "We're still searching for those right combinations right now early in the year."
Each singles defeat was in two sets including Big East Men's Tennis Player of the Week Yannick Yoshizawa's 6-3, 7-5 loss to Andres Bucaro.
Lucas Marin-Salcedo also pushed a Seminole to the limit in the second set when he lost to Jason Zafiros, 6-1, 7-5.
"We've got some learning to do, but we still need to get better and more aggressive," Barr said.
The Bulls came close to three doubles wins, two by 8-6 margins, and an 8-7, 7-2 defeat from the team of Sabastian Hagn and Lucas Marin-Salcedo.
"We just have to learn how to kind of avoid the doubles points from slipping away from us," Barr said. "That's a big incentive right there at the beginning to hold that doubles point."
USF's spring season continues Sunday, Feb. 12 at Auburn.
