TAMPA - The USF defense forced 17 turnovers, but the Bulls didn't have enough offense to go on Big East winning streak.
Jawanza Poland posted a team-high 13 points and Toarlyn Fitzpatrick added 10 more, but the Bulls' couldn't heat up down the stretch in a 55-47 loss at Seton Hall on Wednesday night.
USF (10-8, 1-5) went 3-for-19 from three-point range and shot 33 percent a game after beating Georgetown at the Sun Dome on Saturday night
"It was a nightmare shooting night. I don't think we've had this poor of a shooting night in a long, long time," head coach Stan Heath said.Â
Fitzpatrick, usually one of USF's best from long range, got to 10 points despite going 0-for-7 from three-point range.Â
"Tonight didn't happen to be his night and we just didn't find somebody else to pick up the slack in that area," Heath said.Â
Fuquan Edwin had a game-high 16 points and Brandon Mobley finished with 14 points as Seton Hall (13-6, 2-4) found a way to win despite tying a season low in scoring production. The Pirates still ended up shooting 52 percent from the field on the way to snapping a four-game losing streak.
"That's a really good shooting team and they create some problems," Heath said.
A 3-pointer from Poland cut USF's deficit to 53-47 with 1:43 to play, but the Bulls missed all three of their final attempts from long range.
"I think if we make a few of those shots and we get into a rhythm, then it makes a big difference. We just could not make a shot," Heath said.
The Bulls return to the Sun Dome on Saturday to host Notre Dame at noon.
