TAMPA – USF got its first win out of the way by cruising past Central Connecticut State, 81-47, on Sunday and now the Bulls are looking to build more momentum at the Sun Dome.
USF looks to improve to 10-0 all-time in its series with Jacksonville when the programs face off 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Bulls' last win in the series came by a 92-52 margin on Dec. 8, 2012 in Jacksonville.
Scoring hasn't been a problem for head coach Jose Fernandez's squad this season as four Bulls are averaging double-digit scoring figures with sophomore guard Courtney Williams leading the way with 15.5 points per game. Williams scored a career-high 21 points in USF's 78-70 loss to Maryland on Nov. 8.
Right behind Williams on the scoring list is sophomore forward Alisia Jenkins (14.5 ppg) who posted double-doubles in each of USF's two games. Jenkins earned a spot on the American Weekly Honor Roll after registering 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Bulls' victory over Central Connecticut State.
Jacksonville (0-1) seeks its first win after opening the season with a 69-64 loss at Florida A&M on Nov. 8. Queen Alford scored 13 points and Briona Brown's game-high 11 rebounds helped the Dolphins finish with a 52-41 edge on the glass.
USF will wrap up its week 4 p.m. Sunday at Bradley before returning to the Sun Dome for a two-game home stand that begins Wednesday, Nov. 20 against North Carolina Central at 7 p.m. Purchase tickets HERE.
