By TOM ZEBOLD

USF Senior Writer

TAMPAJames Ramsay is starting to get into a groove in his debut season as a pro.

The former USF center fielder and current Houston Astros prospect has raised his batting average to .297 for the Tri-City Valleycats of the Class-A short season New York-Penn League. Ramsay has batted .433 in his past 10 games (13-for-30) with multi-hit performances half of the time.

Ramsay was drafted by Houston in the seventh round this June after leading the Bulls in hitting the past two seasons. The Brandon, Fla., native batted .337 as a junior this past season and became an All-Big East selection for the second time in his college career.
