TAMPA – USF (2-0-2) rolled past Niagara, 3-0, to pick up its second win of the season on Sunday afternoon at Corbett Soccer Stadium. “I think the girls played well,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. “Defensively we did our job and offensively we had a lot of chances." The Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when Victoria Abnathy scored her second goal of the season on an assist from Jordyn Listro. “Victoria has good heart and good pace, but when everything comes together she's going to be a dangerous player,” Schilte-Brown said. USF struck again with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening half on a header by AJ Blount that was delivered by Aubrey Riggins to put the Bulls up 2-0. It was Blount's first goal of the season. Cristin Granados Gomez stretched the Bulls lead to 3-0 in the 83rd minute on her first career goal as a Bull. “Tori (Victoria Abnathy), AJ (Blount) and Cris (Cristin Granados Gomez) all worked really hard and I'm really happy for them." The Bulls defense was solid holding Niagara scoreless while allowing no shots. “Our defense was really strong and physical today,” Abnathy said. USF returns to action 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 against Middle Tennessee State at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
