No. 59 Bulls Compete at Michigan Invitational

Ann Arbor, MI, JAN. 18, 2014 – The USF women's tennis team won two of three doubles matches to highlight day one of the Michigan Invitational for the Bulls Saturday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, MI.
Facing off against No. 20 Georgia Tech in doubles, Fanny Fracassi and Olaya Garrido-Rivas defeated Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyer 6-1 at second doubles while Vera Bessonova and Olga Martinez bested Kendal Woodard and Nicole Gottret Murillo 6-1 at third doubles.
The Bulls weren't as fortunate in singles action as No. 11 Michigan took seven of eight matches with Bessonova providing USF's lone victory. The freshman took down Laura Ucros 6-1, 6-4 at sixth singles.
Kayla Rizzolo almost pulled off a huge upset for USF at No. 1 singles as she lost in a tiebreak to 21st ranked Emina Bektas 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). Martinez also fell in a tiebreak for the Bulls at fifth singles losing 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8) to Kristy Dodge. Alessandra Bonte had a tightly contest match at seventh singles falling 7-5, 7-5 to Sara Remynse.
USF will be back in action tomorrow as they take on No. 35 Ole Miss in singles action before squaring off with Michigan in doubles play later in the day.
