USF Picks-Up 5-1 Victory Over San Diego State

San Diego, FEB. 27, 2014 – After a rain delay pushed the start of the match back 3 ½ hours, the USF women's tennis team came away with a 5-1 victory over San Diego State Thursday evening in San Diego at the Aztec Tennis Center.
The rain delay forced doubles action to be canceled and the match was decided strictly on the singles results. Loreto Alonso-Martinez got the Bulls off on the right track as she easily handled No. 54 Laura Antonana at first singles, 6-2, 6-1. Kayla Rizzolo also notched a win against a ranked foe best No. 121 Kristin Buth 6-3, 6-4 in the second spot.
Vera Bessonova and Olga Martinez both won in straight sets for USF 7-5, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively. Olaya Garrido-Rivas earned the last victory for the Bulls at third singles besting Tami Nguyen 6-4, 0-6, 6-2. Fanny Fracassi dropped the lone match in heartbreak fashion falling 0-6, 7-5, 11-9.
USF will wrap-up its west coast trip on Saturday, March 1 when it takes on the University of San Diego.
