No. 65 USF Defeats San Diego, 4-2

San Diego, March 1, 2014 – The No. 65 USF women's tennis team completed its west coast trip with a perfect 2-0 record after besting San Diego 4-2 Saturday afternoon at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
With constant rain in southern California over the past several days, doubles play was skipped and the final score was decided by singles play only.
USF quickly jumped out a 3-0 advantage as Loreto Alonso-Martinez picked up the first win when her opponent, Shani Blecher retired in the second set. Vera Bessonova and Olga Martinez followed suit picking up straight set wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
USD closed the gap to one earning victories at third and fourth singles.
Kayla Rizzolo clinched the match for the Bulls winning a three-set match 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Marta Stojanovic.
USF will have several days off before returning to the courts on Friday, March 7 when it hosts St. John's at the USF Tennis Courts. Doubles action will get underway at 11:00 a.m. followed by singles play shortly after.
