USF Posts Second Straight Shutout, 7-0 Over ODU

TAMPA, March 9, 2014 – No. 62 USF shutout No. 67 Old Dominion 7-0 en route to its seventh straight victory Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls dominated throughout the match dropping just one set on the day which began with USF winning the doubles points. All three doubles teams posted victories on the afternoon as the tandems of Loreto Alonso-Martinez and Kayla Rizzolo and Olga Martinez and Alessandra Bonte both won 8-3. Fanny Fracassi and Olaya Garrido-Rivas defeated their opponents 8-4.
In singles action, Fracassi was perfect on the afternoon winning 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles. The lone singles match to go to a third set was at fifth singles as Martinez came back to post the victory after dropping the first set, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Alonso-Martinez, Rizzolo, Garrido-Rivas and Bonte all won in straight sets as well.
USF (9-3) will be right back in action tomorrow morning when they host Penn State in a non-conference matchup at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The match is set to get underway at 11:00 a.m. beginning with doubles.
