TAMPA, APRIL 8, 2014 - This past Saturday served as a special experience for one USF women's soccer player as she was able to represent her country in an international friendly.
USF junior Daniela Andrade played for Guatemala's National Team in its friendly against El Salvador on April 5 in Guatemala.
Andrade helped propel Guatemala to a 3-1 victory in a match that served as a tune-up for an upcoming tournament that will take place in May and features Honduras, Belize, Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Nicaragua. The tournament will have an impact on qualifying for the 2015 Women's World Cup in Canada.
The defender/midfielder from Guatemala City has been a part of the team's national program since 2010, but said it is always exciting to step out onto the field and represent her country.
“For me it is an honor to be part of my national team. The feeling I get when we do the walk out is just indescribable,” Andrade said.
Andrade has seen action in 33 games for the Bulls over the past three seasons, scoring one goal and registering three assists while playing primarily as an outside defender.
