USF alumna and veteran sports journalist to join Jim Louk and Mark Robinson on all football broadcasts

TAMPA, AUG. 25, 2015 – USF alumna and veteran sports journalist Jenna Laine will join the USF/IMG Radio Network team this fall, taking on the role of sideline reporter for the 2015 season.

Laine, who hosts a daily afternoon show on Sports Talk Florida 1040 AM (3-6 p.m.), graduated Cum Laude from USF in 2007 and has been covering the Bay Area sports scene for the past decade. Laine will take over for former Bulls linebacker Kawika Mitchell who was unable to return for the 2015 season do to outside obligations.

“We are thrilled to add the voice of someone with Jenna's knowledge and connection to USF to our broadcast,” longtime Voice of the Bulls and USF Associate Athletic Director for Broadcasting Jim Louk said. “Jenna has accumulated a great deal of experience as a journalist covering football and Bay Area sports in the last decade and will bring a fresh perspective and her passion for sports to our broadcasts.”

Laine has previously worked as a reporter covering the NFL at multiple stops since 2007. She covered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for eight seasons and served as a Bucs television correspondent for Fox Sports 1 and a print correspondent for Sports Xchange and USA Today. Her work has been featured on Yahoo! Sports, CBS Sports, NFL.com and numerous other radio, print, TV and online publications.

"I spent some of the best years of my life on the sidelines of Raymond James Stadium as a USF cheerleader," Laine said. "To be able to return to them, to cover my alma mater, a place I owe so much to for fostering my love of the game -- it's an indescribable feeling. You couldn't have scripted it any better. USF played a big role in me choosing this career path, and this was back when there weren't many women doing what I set out to do. I owe so much to the people there for not just believing in me but encouraging me to go after those dreams.

"I was there for the first-ever bowl game in Charlotte, the first-ever bowl win in Birmingham, the women's basketball team's first trip to the NCAA tournament. I remember those wins over Louisville like they were yesterday. I remember rushing the field against West Virginia. Those were such special moments for me. I look forward to being able to capture more of them for fans with Coach Taggart at the helm and being part of an outstanding broadcast team. I know I do have some big shoes to fill with Kawika gone, but I'm so grateful for the opportunity."

Laine covered Super Bowls XLIV and XLIII, the Beef 'O' Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl, two NFL Scouting Combines, the East-West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl. She has covered numerous NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, as well as collegiate teams such as USF football, the University of Louisville and the University of Southern Mississippi. She also has a background in baseball covering the Tampa Bay Rays, Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Team USA Baseball at the World Baseball Classic, as well as the LFL for MTV2.
