TAMPA (Aug. 28, 2015)— Domination. That was the name of the game Friday night as the USF women's soccer team routed LIU in a 5-0 victory at Corbett Stadium. “The fans were awesome,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. “It was really fun to be here at Corbett and it was a great atmosphere.” Reigning AAC Defensive Player of the Week Cristina Ferral (Tampico, Mexico) put the Bulls on the board in the 37th minute on a beautiful shot from 23 yards out. After battling around LIU defenders, the senior found open ground and launched a shot into the upper left corner of the goal. It was all offense in the second half as the Bulls pounded the LIU back line. Junior transfer Trudi Carter (Kingston, Jamaica) and senior Olivia Chance (New Zealand) scored within 17 seconds of each other to put the Bulls up 3-0 in the 55th minute. Five minutes later, a lot of commotion in front of the net, including shots from Leticia Skeete (Ontario, Canada) and Brittany Raymond (Orlando), gave way to Carter scoring her second goal of the evening. “With Carter you aren't actually sure if she's fast and then you see her go,” Schilte-Brown said. “She's dynamic on the ball, she's smart, she's hardworking and a real total package. We're excited about her.” In the 76th minute, Ocean Parr (Ontario, Canada) got in on the scoring action on an assist from Sienna Brooks (Tampa). The USF offense came out aggressive, recording 14 shots in the first half. With six shots on goal, the Bulls forced LU goalkeeper Jessica Montrose to make five saves before Ferral broke through with the first goal of the game. The Bulls piled on another 20 shots in the second half, finishing the night with 34 shots and 19 shots on goal. Montrose was forced to make 14 saves for LIU, while USF keeper Kat Elliott (Bradenton) needed to make just one. The Bulls are back in action Sunday, Aug. 30, at 10:30 a.m. as they take on Mississippi State. Follow @USFWSOC on Twitter for more information about the women's soccer program. The USF women's soccer team has posted three consecutive 10-plus win seasons and four in the last five years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. USF returns 20 players from last year's roster including All-American Athletic Conference first team midfielderOlivia Chance and second team defender Jackie Simpson. They also bring back 12 players that appeared in 15 or more games last season.
