Bulls Rally Against Jaguars to Stay Undefeated

MOBILE, Ala. (Sept. 4, 2015)— Four in a row. Thanks to a comeback win, the USF women's soccer team is off to its best start in the Denise Schilte-Brown era. After defeating South Alabama, 2-1, Friday night, the Bulls have now won their first four games for the first time since 1998. Down 1-0 at halftime, Leticia Skeete (Ontario, Canada) netted her second goal of the season on an assist by Olivia Chance (New Zealand) in the 56th minute. USF (4-0-0) had tallied 19 shots and six on goal before Skeete broke through to tie the game. Ocean Parr (Ontario, Canada) put USF on top with a goal in the 70th minute on an assist by Grace Adams (Accra, Ghana). The sophomore needed just one look at the goal to put the Bulls ahead and earn the game winner. For the first time this season, the Bulls found themselves behind when South Alabama's Charde Hannah beat the USF defense to fire a shot into the back of the net. Hannah's fourth goal of the season gave USA (4-1-0) the 1-0 lead in the eighth minute of play. In the first 45 minutes, the Bulls led the offensive attack, recording 14 shots and forcing USA keeper Sarah Hay to make five saves. Nine players recorded at least one shot, and senior defender Allie Rossi (Orlando, Fla.) recorded the first shot of her career. After giving up 14 shots to Baylor in the first game of the season, the Bulls have held their last three opponents to just 18 total with no team getting to the double-digit mark. The back line, anchored by veterans Jackie Simpson (Lithia, Fla.) and Rossi, has allowed just two goals this season and the Bulls scored nine unanswered goals before surrendering one tonight. USF recorded 27 shots on the night with 10 on goal. Five different players recorded four shots and 11 players recorded at least one goal. Sophomore keeper Kat Elliott finished the night with five saves to help secure the victory for the Bulls. The Bulls will be back in action against the Troy Trojans Sunday, Sept. 6, at noon. The USF women's soccer team has posted three consecutive 10-plus win seasons and four in the last five years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014. USF returns 20 players from last year's roster including All-American Athletic Conference first team midfielderOlivia Chance and second team defender Jackie Simpson. They also bring back 12 players that appeared in 15 or more games last season.
