Montgomery, Ala. Feb. 27, 2016 – The 14th-ranked USF men's tennis team (7-4) dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 9 Oklahoma State on day two of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic.
In doubles competition, USF's tandem of Roberto Cid (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz (Gijon Asturas, Spain) swept Lukas Finzelberg and Jurence Mendoza, 6-0, in the third position. Sasha Gozun (Orhei, Moldova) and Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) forced a tiebreaker but ultimately fell 7-6 on court two.
No. 5 Roberto Cid won the first set against No. 75 Julian Cash 6-4, and clinched his match with a 6-3 second set. Cid earned his ninth win of the year, sixth over a ranked opponent.
USF's only losses this season have come against teams ranked in the Top 15. The Bulls will face No. 8 TCU on Saturday, March 5. The match will be held at the Varsity Tennis Courts on campus and begin at 1 p.m.
