TAMPA, FLA. MARCH 5 – The 17th-ranked USF men's tennis team welcomed 3rd-ranked TCU to the Varsity Tennis Courts on Saturday, dropping the Top 20 matchup, 5-2.
In a Top 5 singles matchup, No. 5 Roberto Cid battled No. 2 Cameron Norrie. Cid and Norrie split the first two sets before Cid picked up the 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win to take down TCU's top player. The other point of the day for USF came on court four as Justin Roberts won in dominating fashion, 6-2, 6-2.
The Bulls (7-5) started the match in a 1-0 deficit after TCU took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Dominic Cotrone and Roberts picked up a 6-4 win on court one to give the Bulls one of the three doubles wins. Cid and Sasha Gozun were reunited as partners at the No. 2 spot, but dropped a hard fought battle, 7-6.
Freshman Sebastien Butler (England), made his debut for the Bulls, playing on court six. Butler picked up a 6-4 first set win, but ultimately fell 6-4, 3-6, 5-7.
USF will take on No. 19 Michigan Sunday, March 6, at noon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
