TAMPA, JUNE 3, 2016 – The student-athletes comprising USF Athletics posted a combined annual grade-point average of 3.085 for the 2015-16 academic period, the highest on record for the Bulls' athletic program.
The 2015-16 overall GPA marked the first time the program logged above a 3.0 in the combined annual term. The final annual score was boosted by a sterling 3.088-combined GPA for all of USF student-athletes during the just complete spring term, the highest term GPA on record for Athletics.
The Bulls' academic success was led by 249 student-athletes that recorded a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the spring semester, a number that represents over 60 percent of student-athletes enrolled in the spring. USF had 12 sports teams post an annual GPA over 3.0, led on the women's side by coach Cristina Moros' tennis program with a 3.386 GPA and on the men's side by coach Matt Hill's tennis program with a 3.364 GPA.
The cumulative USF GPA for all enrolled student-athletes following the recently completed spring term was an impressive 3.117. That number has continued a consistent rise during recent terms.
USF's football program posted a 2.907 team GPA among 93 student-athletes enrolled in the spring, the highest term GPA in the program's history. Head Coach Willie Taggart's program has seen its team GPA rise year-over-year in each of the last two terms and its annual GPA of 2.857 rise considerably from 2014-15's mark of 2.490.
