Bulls Sweep Doubles Competition Against Wisconsin

Fort Myers, Fla. (Jan. 14, 2017) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team swept Wisconsin in doubles matches on day two of the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational, and took home another six singles wins.
After a successful first day in Fort Myers, Fla. the Bulls set their sights on Wisconsin for day two. Eight USF players took the courts in singles action, and six finished with wins. Peter Bertran, Vadym Kalyuzhnyy, and Nils Heimer all took their opponents in straight sets.
Justin Roberts faced Lamar Remy for a hard fought first two sets. He posted a 7-5 win in the first, but Remy would return with the same score in the second. However, for the second day in a row Roberts would not let his hard work go to waste. He finished the match victorious, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
Alberto Barroso-Campos began his match in a deficit after a 4-6 first set, but regained focus and finished 6-2, 7-6 to give the Bulls yet another win. Freshman Pierre Luquet also took his match to three, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, and continued the winning streak for the Bulls.
Senior Sasha Gozun fell to Josef Dodridge in two, 6-4, 6-4. Newcomer Jakub Wojcik took Daniel Soyfer to three, but lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
The USF men's tennis team dominated doubles play, winning all four matches. Gozun and Kalyuzhnyy paired up to defeat Dodridge and Chema Carranza 6-2, followed by Barroso-Campos and Wojcik with the same score. Bertran and Roberts saw a 6-4 win against Remy and Chase Colton. Newcomers Heimer and Luquet, faced Soyfer and Darius Mackenzie with a matching 6-4 win.
